About

The Fourge Coworking Community is a concept that’s been in the works for several years, and we achieved our goal of opening a physical coworking space—Fourge Coworking Space—in January 2022. We serve entrepreneurs, small business owners, contractors, freelancers, and remote workers living in and around the greater Gaylord, Michigan area, and have been working to foster an inclusive and welcoming community for this group for some time. We recognize that Northern Michigan is a wonderful place to visit, so we encourage visitors to the area to take advantage of all that we have to offer, as well!

Fourge Coworking Space is colocated within the Gaylord Area Council for the Arts Gallery. We’re so excited to partner with Gaylord Arts because we recognize the value the arrangement offers to both parties. Setting up in the Gallery allows Fourge to offer affordable access to high speed internet in a convenient, downtown-Gaylord location, surrounded by inspiring creative work from local artisans. We believe the additional exposure to each organization’s community, events, and other opportunities can further enrich the lives of all the individuals who take advantage of offerings through either group. You can learn more about Gaylord Arts by visiting their website.

Our Mission

To forge a supportive learning community and space that empowers and connects entrepreneurs, remote workers, and freelancers to unlock their potential and impact their world.

Why Choose the Fourge Coworking Space?

Over the past couple years, the concept of remote work has become much more mainstream. Many new remote workers are starting to understand and experience what long term workers-from-home have known: despite the many benefits, it can be isolating. There’s a lack of structure when working alone that naturally occurs when working alongside others. Often in rural areas, internet speed and connection is problematic. There are more distractions at home versus an office environment. In general, for all of these reasons, there’s more risk of burnout.

Leveraging the Fourge Coworking Space can help combat these negatives, by providing the following benefits:

  • Formalized structure to the workweek

  • Inspiration through a creative physical environment

  • A sense of belonging to a community

  • Local networking opportunities

  • Relationship building

  • Workshops, casual social, and other professional development events

Using the space

We offer part-time and full-time memberships to the Fourge Coworking Space, and during our normal business hours, we welcome walk-ins as well. Full-time members get key card access to the coworking space and can use it 24/7. Part-time members can use the coworking space 2 days a week during business hours.

In addition to providing a place to come work, we’ll continue to offer a variety of events. All of our events will be free to members, and open to the general public for a small fee. Visit our Events page to see what’s coming up, and follow us on Facebook and on LinkedIn to get reminders in your feed.
